Hydra
Beneath The Surface
This photograph was created by taking several exposures through a microscope at a magnification of 85 times, to show how the organism Hydra moves along. Hydra are simple multicellular creatures that live at the bottom of lakes, pinds and streams, anchored by their base. At the other end their mouth is surrounded by tentacles with which they catch prey. Hydra move around by floating or somersaulting to a new location. This one is bending its body and tentacles and starting to somersault.
