Craters on Venus
Into The Heavens
The surface of Venus is scarred with craters. In the foreground of this image is the Howe Crater (37.3 kilometers across), on the left, the Danilova Crater (47.6 kilometers across) and on the right, the Aglaonice Crater (62.7 kilometers across). The radar-bright area around each crater shows that the surface is rough and strewn with impact debris. This perspective view has been calculated, enhanced and coloured using radar data from Magellan and information form the few colour photographs that have been taken on the surface of Venus.
