The end of World War II launched the beginning of a new era in the development of Polish poster art. Poland was enclosed by wooden fences all throughout the city, and these sites were covered with posters. The fences took a very important role of exhibiting the artworks. The fences becamse art galleries and museums, which were absent in Poland at the time. A new branch of art emerged at the time, originated mainly from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Polish School of Posters.

Polish School of Posters flourished from the 1950s through the 1980s. Artists used bold and bright colors, metaphor, often hand-drawn lettering, and symbolism. Posters of the Polish School of Posters influenced the development of graphic design in poster art internationally.
